Ishani S

Ishani is a junior at a pre-engineering academy that focuses on STEM education. One of her biggest passions is machine learning in artificial intelligence, and she has worked on several machine learning focused research projects. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ishani became keenly aware of the mental health challenges that teens face every day, particularly on Tiktok, an app that saw tremendous growth during this time. To try to protect Tiktok's young audience, she collected and analyzed comments from Tiktok videos and developed a machine learning framework to identify bullying comments. Most recently, she worked on the translation of ASL to English and vice versa using synthetic data generation and transformer models. Ishani has won multiple awards and recognitions for her work at the local, regional, and national level. She will also be a New Jersey delegate to the National American Junior Academy of Science in February 2024 for her work. In addition to machine learning, she is very passionate about mathematics, and most recently qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME).

 

Ishani hopes to continue her passions in college and wants to be engaged in a profession that challenges her mind and skills and makes an impact on society.
